Profile Me

The Sisters Hayes would like to know:

What did you (or do you) want to be when you grow up?
A Lion Tamer

How many siblings do you have and what is your birth order (oldest, middle child, youngest, only child)?
I am the Oldest. I have one brother in the middle (Deceased) and one sister who is the youngest. My sister and I have 8 years between us but we are very close.

Are you doing what you love with your life? Why or Why not?
I get to sew clothes for people, but I don’t get to do it all the time because money doesn’t grow on trees or in appear cookie jars. But I do get to do it late at night and on weekends.

What is your favourite hobby or past time? Is this something you prefer to do alone or with others and why?
My favourite indulgent hobby is reading trashy sci-fi novels on my own, in pubs. I like to do this alone to really get into the book. My second favourite hobby is breakfast. I like to do this with other people so I can steal their mushrooms or chili sauce.

What is the most embarrassing song on your iPod that you do not want to delete?
Almost Unreal by Roxette (romantic theme song to the Super Mario Bros movie)

Describe an important place to you. Include things like what season or time of day it is. Also let us know of any important smells or colours you associate with that place.
It is under the giant loquat tree at my Grandmother’s house, in 1994. It’s after kinder, in summer, but it’s not too hot. The tree branches hang down to the ground so it’s like a cave, it smells like hot wet soil and dry leaves and I am sitting on a small stump. I am peeling loquats with my tiny fingers and throwing seed pods at the grey wooden slat fence that seperates the garden from the plant nursery. There are many yellow and black bugs on the ground and cicadas preeep-preep-preeeeeping close by.

What three things do you ‘feel you need’ to carry with you (other than your phone, wallet or keys)?
A squashed penny from London, a small wooden Chinese lion figurine and a golden croquet lame coin purse.

What fictional character do you most identify with and why?
Mrs. Frisby, from Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. I’ve always loved her since I was little. She’s brave and resourceful.

What book OR movie do you enjoy reading/watching over and over again?
The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham. I read it every year.

Describe something you wear that makes you feel confident, happy or powerful.
Lots of black eyeliner in the cats eye style. I feel infinitely happier and confident when I do.
