Eugenia Lim would like to know:
What will you be when you grow up?
When I was a kid I wanted to be a journalist when I grew up. I wanted to be like April from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
I actually studied journalism at uni but found it restricted my creativity so am in a comms job now for an arts organisation – it’s fun. However, I so wish I could ditch my day job and become a textile artist – am really getting into all things textiles lately and am teaching myself screen printing, embroidery, sewing, quilting, etc. Just one small project at at time though.
What makes you happy?
Good food, good wine and good friends – all at once!
What is happiness?
To me happiness is being being able to show your love for loved ones and knowing that they love you too.
Do you prefer the great outdoors or the great indoors? What do you do there?
I like outdoors, but not too outdoors ’cause I’m a red head and so I sizzle in the sun. I like walking around cities discovering new nooks & crannies. I like warm balmy nights with friends, some outdoor cinema, a BBQ or a bike ride. But I also can be a bit of a homebody – doing some little craft projects.
Do you look at or avoid mirrors?
I look if they’re there but not for too long otherwise I’ll start finding things I don’t like.
What’s your favourite colour?
Tell me about a song OR scene from a film that evokes a particular time, memory, experience, story for you…
I like listening to Ben Folds live album – just him and a piano. It reminds me of time spent traveling/living in America and all the good (and some tough) times had. I listened to this album almost non-stop when I was there. I often pick one album for each traveling adventure because then when you listen to it again later in life you’re transported back to that place and time.
What’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen?
Just seeing friends/family for the first time when you get off a airplane after a long time a part – they always look so beautiful to me.
If you have travel planned for the future, where will you go and what will you do there?
I want to go back to New York – this time for a much longer period. I love how much there is to discover in that city, including the many, many people that come from all walks of life.
Ever wanted to know what it’s like in another person’s shoes? Who would you consider swapping a day in your life with? Why?
I always wanted to know what it would be like to be Florence Broadhurst and experience Australia in the 70s as a quirky, crazy woman who seemed to live such a glamorous life – yet with the many personalities she took on!
